In Memory of the Society’s Founding Inspiration
Mrs Eileen Thirza MacKay (nee Charlesworth)
A.R.C.M. L.R.A.M. M.R.S.T.

Educated at Yeadon and Guiseley School. Studied at the Royal College of Music under Malcolm Sergeant. Appointed Music Teacher at Aireborough Grammar School in 1941. Founded the Old Scholars Gilbert & Sullivan Society in 1957. The Society’s Musical Director for 28 years.

Winner of an international accompanist competition held at La Scala Milan. Accompanist for a major record company where she accompanied many major singing stars. Taught piano and voice. Associated for many years with the Horsforth Musical Festival and in later years with the Horsforth Light Operatic Society. Trained and accompanied the MacKay singers.
